Rule of Law situation in the EU and application of the conditionality regulation

In a debate at 15.00, MEPs will quiz the Council and the Commission on the application of the new rule of law conditionality rules to protect the EU budget that entered into force on 1 January 2021. The draft resolution to be put to the vote on Thursday tasks the Parliament to start preparing to take the Commission to court for failure to act, since the risk of misusing EU funds has been growing in some member states and the situation of rule of law has been deteriorating.
