Reform of EU agricultural policy: press conference after vote results on 23 November
On Tuesday, the Chair of the Agriculture Committee and the rapporteurs for the three new EU laws regulating the new Common Agricultural Policy will present details of the reform.
Norbert Lins (EPP, DE), Peter Jahr (EPP, DE), Ulrike Müller (RE, DE), and Eric Andrieu (S&D, FR) will hold a press conference on the new Common Agricultural Policy. Plenary will debate the three legislative proposals on Tuesday morning from 9:00 and vote on them on Tuesday from 12:00. Results will be announced at 16.00.
When: Tuesday 23 November 2021, 16:15.
Where: European Parliament in Strasbourg, Daphne Caruana Galizia Press room, with physical and remote participation.
How: Accredited media representatives with an EU Digital COVID Certificate can enter Parliament. Journalists wishing to ask questions remotely need to connect via Interactio (https://broadcaster.interactio.eu/join/66e2-hy1p-1w4u). The press conference will also be webstreamed live and recorded on Parliament’s Multimedia Centre. Interpretation will be available into and from English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Polish.
Background
Parliament is set to give the final green light to a deal struck on the new legislative framework between the Parliament and Council in June 2021. The three new EU laws aim to align the Common Agricultural Policy with the EU’s environmental and climate commitments. A fairer system, especially towards small and medium-sized farms and young farmers, as well as flexibility in the use of EU support and more transparency are further objectives of the reform.
Updated COVID-19 rules
As of 3 November, all people entering Parliament’s buildings, including journalists, have to present a valid EU Digital COVID Certificate. The EU Digital COVID Certificate proves that a person is either fully vaccinated, has immunity after having recovered from COVID-19 or can show a recent negative PCR test result. Both digital and paper formats of the EU Digital COVID Certificate or of a recognised equivalent certificate will be accepted.
Proof of a negative result of a PCR test carried out within the last 48 hours in Belgium, Luxembourg or France will also be accepted. Please note that the existing precautionary measures, including the compulsory wearing of a medical face mask and temperature checks at entrances, remain in place. More information here.
