Conference on the Future of Europe: follow Monday’s closing event

Media are invited to the closing event of the Conference on the Future of Europe taking place on 9 May, Europe Day, at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

During the closing event, the three Co-Chairs of the Conference’s Executive Board will present the final report to the presidents of the EU institutions. President Metsola, President Macron, and President von der Leyen will deliver speeches alongside contributions from citizens representing the European and National Panels, and by the Conference Co-Chairs. Cultural performances by Danse l’Europe and youth orchestra DEMOS are also planned.


After the event, Presidents Metsola, Macron and von der Leyen will hold a joint press conference in Parliament's Daphne Caruana Galizia press conference room. You can follow it live here.

Other media opportunities

Media representatives will be able to interview invitees, including Plenary Members (citizen representatives as well as MEPs, government members, Commissioners, MPs and other politicians from the Member States, etc.), as well as other citizens who have taken part in the Conference, such as Europeans from the Citizens' Panels and Ukrainian representatives, provided they are willing to speak to journalists. For this, Parliament’s dedicated spaces and equipment will be available if needed (booking required). Press officers from EU institutions will be available to facilitate the process and liaise where necessary.



Audio-visual coverage

The closing event of the Conference on the Future of Europe will be broadcast live on EbS+ from 12:00 AM CEST.


The event will also be web streamed on Parliament’s multimedia centre and on Parliament’s Facebook page, Youtube and Twitter account @Europarl_EN.


The video, audio and photo coverage will be available to download in the multimedia centre.

Accreditation

Annual press passes (either inter-institutional passes or EP passes) are valid. Journalists without an access pass are kindly asked to request accreditation before 8 May at 12:00 via the journalist registration website. Passes may be collected from reception Weiss (located at the entrance number 4 of the Agora).

Access

Media access will be facilitated through the main entrance to the Louise Weiss building and the Churchill building entrance throughout the duration of the closing event - subject to the accreditation considerations set out above. The separate press entrance will be closed.



Working areas

The following areas will be accessible for journalists:

  • Working space and access to the video feed inside the press room
  • Press gallery of the Chamber (photo agencies will also be able to enter the Chamber)
  • Media space outside the Hemicycle for video recording (booking required)



Wi-Fi will be available in all parts of the building. The login and password will be communicated on the day.



All journalists will be able to follow the live coverage from the press room screens.



Audiovisual facilities (booking required)

The following audiovisual services will be provided:

  • Live camera positions in self-service near the Chamber. Media should bring their own equipment and cabling; power and internet broadband connection will be available
  • Multimedia studio and stand up positions
  • Broadcast and multimedia studios and stand up positions
