Opening of 22-23 June plenary session in Brussels

At the opening of the session, President Metsola expressed her condolences to the relatives of murdered journalist Dom Phillips and indigenous advocate Bruno Pereira.

They were murdered while travelling in the rainforest in a remote region of the Amazon to speak with indigenous people to research a book.

Changes to the agenda

The President has received a request for urgent procedure from the Agriculture Committee, pursuant to Rule 163, on the following legislative files:

  • Exceptional temporary support under EAFRD in response to the impact of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The vote will be held on Thursday.

One round of political group speakers on the Fit for 55 package is added before the vote on the reports by Mr Liese, Mr Casa and Ms de Lange and Mr Chahim. As a consequence, the sitting is extended until 23.30.

The vote on the Objection pursuant to Rule 112(2) and (3): Veklury – remdesivir is taken out of the agenda as it was rejected by the Environment Committee.
