New rules on platform workers
President Metsola will announce, at the opening of the session, a draft mandate to start negotiations with Council on measures to improve the conditions for those working for digital labour platforms. MEPs will have until Tuesday at midnight to decide whether to endorse it or object to it, in which case a plenary vote will be held on Thursday.

Stricter procedures and control over waste shipments
Plenary will discuss a proposal to reform EU procedures and control measures for waste shipments to protect the environment and human health, while achieving the EU’s goals of a circular and zero-pollution economy. In a vote on Tuesday, MEPs will set their position ahead of talks with the Council on the final form of the legislation.

Requests for the waiver of MEPs’ immunities over Qatargate
At the opening, President Metsola will inform the plenary of requests made by the Belgian authorities to waive the immunity of two of its members over corruption allegations. For each case, the Committee on Legal Affairs will then have to appoint a rapporteur and prepare a draft recommendation for the plenary to approve or reject the request.

In brief
30-year anniversary of the single market. After the opening, Parliament will mark the 30th anniversary of the European single market with a ceremony A debate with the Commission and the Swedish Presidency will follow and a resolution will be put to the vote on Wednesday.
Minute of silence for late President Sassoli. At the opening of the session, MEPs will hold a minute of silence in remembrance of President David Sassoli, who passed away on 11 January 2022.
