EU humanitarian response to the earthquake in Türkiye and Syria
EP President Metsola will make a statement at the opening of the session, followed by a full debate on the emergency humanitarian aid the EU can provide to Türkiye and Syria after the catastrophic earthquake, which cost the lives of at least 20 000 people and destroyed tens of thousands of buildings, leaving hundreds of thousands homeless.

REPowerEU: energy measures in the national recovery plans
MEPs will discuss with the Commission the new rules under which member states applying to receive additional funds through an amended recovery and resilience plan will be required to include measures to save energy, produce clean energy and diversify energy supplies, as foreseen in the EU’s REPowerEU plan. The final vote on the legislation, agreed upon with Council in December, will take place on Tuesday.

Electoral rights for EU citizens living in another member state
MEPs will debate with the Commission Parliament’s proposals to remove barriers that more than 11 million EU citizens of voting age who live in another member state face when they want to stand and vote in European and local elections. Two draft reports will be put to the vote on Tuesday.

In brief
A new satellites network to enhance the EU’s strategic autonomy. Plenary will assess draft legislation establishing a new network of European telecommunication satellites to secure government communications from 2024. The vote will take place on Tuesday.
EU funding allocated to NGOs involved in Qatargate. MEPs will discuss with the Commission the use of EU funds by NGOs incriminated in the recent corruption revelations and the need to protect the EU’s financial interests.
