Debate on new proposals to reform the Stability and Growth Pact

MEPs will debate from 9.00 to 10.30 with Commissioner Šefčovič and Swedish Minister for EU Affairs, Roswall the legislative proposals recently tabled to reform the EU’s economic governance rule. During the debate, MEPs will outline their priorities concerning this reform, building on the resolution adopted in July 2021.

Situation in Sudan. In the afternoon, MEPs will debate with Commissioner Várhelyi how to avoid an escalation in hostilities that could have far-reaching implications for the East Africa region.


No EU import duties on Ukrainian exports/Assistance to Moldova
. In votes at noon, Parliament is expected to give its green light to suspend EU import duties on Ukrainian agricultural products for another year and approve €145 million in additional assistance to Moldova.

Budget Discharge. MEPs will debate at 13.00 with Commissioner Hahn how the EU institutions, bodies and agencies have executed their budgets in 2021. The decision whether to sign off the accounts will be taken on Wednesday.

EU enlargement. Plenary will discuss with Commissioner Várhelyi in the evening the unsatisfactory developments in accession negotiations with Serbia, and Kosovo’s work to secure the status of EU candidate country. The vote will take place on Wednesday.

Votes

Between 12.00 and 13.00, MEPs will vote, among other things, on

  • methane emissions reduction in the energy sector;
  • the suspension of EU import duties on Ukrainian agricultural products;
  • macro-financial aid for Moldova;
  • three laws to implement the Windsor Framework, on food, seed potatoes and plants for planting and agricultural machinery; medicinal products for human use; steel products;
  • the EU’s School's scheme for fruit, vegetables, milk and dairy products; and
  • EU job seeker’s aid worth €1.2 million for 303 dismissed workers in Spain.
