Opening remarks by President von der Leyen at the EU-Moldova Summit

Madam President, dear Maia,

A very warm welcome. It is wonderful to have you here for our second EU-Moldova Summit.

We have two big topics. One is of course Moldova's accession to the European Union. And indeed, last week, we opened the first and most important door, the first cluster, and the aim must now be to open all the other clusters as soon as possible too. The Commission has recommended to the Council to open the clusters. 

The second topic we will have is the Growth Plan. I must say it is impressive to see how fast and excellently you are delivering on the reforms that are necessary. Basically, it is creating a level playing field with our Single Market and thus opening the doors of the Single Market for Moldovan companies. The whole Growth Plan is worth EUR 1.9 billion. You have already received the first tranches. And I must say it is impressive to see how hard you are working on it, how successful you are.
